Community Health Initiative - Jamaica

Community Pods

A new neighborhood-level model for accessible, continuous, and technology-enabled healthcare — starting in Jamaica.

Many Jamaican communities lack reliable, nearby access to healthcare. Seniors struggle with transportation. Rural communities face long distances to clinics. Disaster-impacted areas lose access entirely when roads are blocked.

The Community Pod is our answer.

Community Pods are small, modular health access points designed to bring primary care, chronic disease support, and telemedicine directly into underserved neighborhoods. These Pods are part of our emerging Community Revitalization & Telemedicine Network, developed jointly by the Intellibus Care Foundation and the Intellibus AI Academy.

They are not traditional clinics — they are compact, efficient, digitally connected micro-centers that serve as the first point of care for communities that currently have none.

This initiative is in development, and we are actively building partnerships to deploy Pods throughout Jamaica.

The Purpose of Community Pods

The Pods are designed to:

Provide routine care close to home
Offer screenings and preventive services
Support senior and veteran care pathways
Serve as access points for the Telemedicine Pod / Atlas Platform
Strengthen community resilience during disasters
Create new digital health jobs for trained youth through the AI Academy

Each Pod becomes a permanent, community-owned health anchor.

What's Inside a Community Pod (Prototype Model)

1. Exam & Care Space

A compact private area for basic assessments including:

Blood pressure
Temperature
Wound care
Minor acute care
Chronic-disease check-ins

2. Telemedicine Station

A dedicated area connecting patients to remote nurses, doctors, and specialists via the Atlas Telemedicine Platform (launching 2027).

Supports:

Primary care consults
Specialist follow-ups
Mental health sessions
Senior and chronic-care pathways

3. Digital Diagnostics

(Optional Add-On Pod)

Where space allows, a Pod may integrate selected diagnostics from the Telemedicine Diagnostic Pod, including:

Oxygen saturation
ECG
Blood sugar & cholesterol
Hemoglobin
Uric acid
Height/weight & body composition

This turns the Pod into a true tele-diagnostics hub for the community.

4. Health Education Area

A small open-air or attached space for:

Wellness classes
Chronic disease workshops
Maternal health information
Senior support meetings

5. Solar Power & Backup Systems

Pods are built for independent operation during outages, using:

Solar panels
Battery storage
Basic water filtration

6. Community Wi-Fi

(Optional)

In disaster scenarios, the Pod becomes a connectivity point for residents.

Where We Are Today

Community Pods are currently in the design and planning phase, shaped by lessons from:

Melissa Recovery Mission, where mobility gaps and broken infrastructure blocked clinic access
A2 field assessments, where chronic-care interruptions and remote communities were identified
Senior and veteran outreach tasks already underway
Telemedicine Pod prototype development
AI Academy workforce pipelines for staffing Pods

We are now developing site-selection models, architectural plans, and telemedicine integration workflows.

Early candidate locations include communities in:

St. Elizabeth
Westmoreland
St. Mary
Manchester
Clarendon

Areas identified as high-need during joint missions.

A Call for Collaboration

We are seeking institutional collaborators in:

Healthcare Delivery

Clinics, hospitals, medical schools, diaspora physicians.

Engineering & Construction

Modular structures, solar, water systems.

Technology & Connectivity

Telecom providers, cloud platforms, diagnostics innovators.

Government & Agencies

Local authorities, resilience programs, social protection systems.

Philanthropy & Funding

Donors seeking high-impact, community-centered health investments.

Why Community Pods Matter

Community Pods will help Jamaica:

Reduce chronic-disease complications
Improve senior and veteran health outcomes
Provide consistent access even when hospitals are distant or damaged
Strengthen disaster readiness
Create hundreds of digital health jobs
Build community trust in long-term health access

They become the front line of Jamaica's new digital health system.

Help Us Build the First Community Pods in Jamaica
